Toothless came to us as Alice, and is one of the founding axolotl’s behind the ides of YYC Axolotl Sanitary. Our son renamed her after a beloved character and he has a very deep affection for her.

Fortunately for Alice, she had a very loving and knowledgeable owner, who was moving and not able to take her along. He wanted to ensure she was going to a safe home, that would take good care of her and keep her happy. We welcomed her with an open tank and a lot of excitement as Alice is our first confirmed female in our harem! Alice is also the largest axolotl in our harem. Because Alice is a confirmed female, she is in her own tank to avoid any accidental clutches.

Since welcoming Alice, we noticed just like our other axies, she has a very unique personality! Most notably, she doesn’t seem to like hides! After trying a variety of shapes, sizes and colours, she doesn’t discriminate, she just doesn’t seem to like them. She likes to be visible and is very interactive when people approach her tank. Due to her not liking hides, we do keep her room nice and dark. She also very much prefers the ground and we do not catch her swimming very high, although she is very active on the bottom. Alice also isn’t a picky eater. She will eat anything put in front of her!
